Hardware: iPhone, MacBookPro, BENQ HD Projector (1080 x 1920), HDMI Cable & Adapter, Scenic Model (black and white 110 lbs paper, cardboard, black foam core board, tape, and staples)
Description: I’m a big fan of Ari’s work… My initial excitement for this project came when he sent me a script and asked me to do the music for it. After reading the script, I imported the storyboard images and created a rough timeline in Adobe Premiere. I then exported the footage as a quicktime file and imported it into ProTools 12, where I created the audio track. In this project specifically, I was exploring the possibility and process involved with taking a flat 2D video and translating it in a 3D space. I felt this re-imagining of Ari’s original work gave it a bit of new life. I also learned quite a bit in the process about the limitations of projection mapping and stretching images onto a physical object. In the future, these lessons learned will inform the design and fabrication process of my scenic models. Also, I feel that I learned a valuable lesson regarding the need to organize and compartmentalize from a macro perspective during the planning process, and the need to set up a production schedule for each component of the project. I found myself running out of Time while working on the scenic model, which translated into other areas of the process being rushed. In short, There wasn’t enough time to complete each part of the project to meet my ideal level of quality. I feel that the overall project would have been better if I had forced myself to adhere to a production schedule.
